Yellow Weather Alert has been in effect since yesterday, and will remain in effect until Friday noon for the entire northern part of Iceland, as well as the South East, and until noon on Saturday for NE Iceland. Severe gales, storm and blizzard in the northern part, with limited liability and dangerously powerful localized winds will bring a near certainty of disturbances to traffic.

The severe weather alert for today Wednesday November 28 and tomorrow Thursday November 29 has been upgraded by the Icelandic Meteorological Office. A Yellow Weather Alert is in effect for all of Iceland, except the South East, where an Orange Weather Alert is in effect. Severe gales, storm and blizzard in the northern and eastern part, with limited visibility and dangerously powerful localized winds will bring a near certainty of disturbances to traffic.

An orange alarm has been issued for Southeast Iceland as a powerful windstorm should bring sustained winds from Northeast of 23-30 m/s with wind gusts 45-55 m/s (200 km/h)!
Very dangerous driving conditions and high likelihood of blowing sand and debris is expected tonight and most of the day tomorrow!
